Store has two new 990's and a 993, they are version 1.3.
(Will they work side by side with a friends version 1.4 units? If so we may pick a 990.)
Is it easy to upgrade to the 1.5(?) versions?

You can upgrade the 1.3's to any version you like. If you have a black module, you can download the update from Lionel, write the code to the module, and update them one at a time.
I'd recommend you upgrade all of them to the current version, 1.52. I've had no operational issues with it, and I haven't heard of any here or at our club.
