Is all the cab chatter in Legacy locomotives that awful radio dispatch content? Do you hear anything like DCS chatter when steam locomotives are stopped? What can you do in conventional mode? I look at a loco manual and it isn't very specific. Do you hear coupler, brake sounds, and others in transformer operation?
