Curious to know if Lionel will allow / license Legacy out to other Makers i.e. 3rd rail / Weaver?  I don't any of their engines, as Yet, but my recollection is that they are still offering new product as TMCC equipped.

Would appreciate some clarification here - THANKS

Steve

Keep in mind that in all Legacy equipped engines the motors are fixed to the chassis and do not swivvel(  in case of diesel engines, too)in curves with the truck; the sensor board mounted on a motor in that case will not turn with the motor and has not enough space to do so in a narrow Hood.

In that case other brands would have to redesign the gearing or create a new sensor board that would fit in a narrow hood for apprpriate movement of the motor  attached to.

Basically that can be done, but that must be regarded in addition for application of Legacy component in other brands.

Since many on here are promoters of Sunset /GGD, Atlas, and Weaver engines with TMCC, not sure how big of a draw Legacy is to folks other than the Lionel fanatics. With many here claiming the day of the hand held is over and WiFi the future, is the Williams no hassle WiFi remote control really the coming thing? You are not locked in by a manufacturer then correct? If TMCC had been produced with 100 speed steps, would anyone even care about Legacy having more? Many of our DCC friends want guests to drool over their 1 mph creeping big boys and challengers. (If the UP ran those engines at 1 mph so much the Rock Island would have taken them over)

Quickly the guests say "nice, is it broken?" when looking

If you have a layout for friends to run on too, you will have to have all these systems.
