Guys,

Before I ruin something here:

What is the process for dropping the tinplate coupler on a brand new DT&I caboose #2426440?  I have removed the truck and the small screw that goes through the bottom that holds the center pickup on, but it's a "no go" on just seeing the coupler drop out.  I see the double eared "tension" spring but can't see inside to observe what that might be doing.  What else do I need to do here before I rev up the dremel and start cutting?

Looking at pictures on line as I’m not familiar with the car. It looks like a Lionel car with MTH tooling. I have an older MTH version. From what I can see in the pics. . The trucks appear to be the same. It looks like on mine I just lopped the coupler off with a  Dremel and anything associated with it was removed.

Hopefully someone with a Lionel model will chime in. I converted this so long ago I really can’t remember what was involved. Maybe the pictures will be of some help.
