Hey all,

I recently had one of the classic Lionel Hot Box reefers die on me and decided to pick up another today.

I read in another topic that these have the ticking time bomb 6 Ohm resistor and I decided to try and rectify the issue before it became an issue.

I went to my local electronics store and picked up a set of 8 Ohm resistors in the ceramic boxes and broke one free and installed it.

The Hot Box works without issue but the smoke output is insane and Im a little worried I may have put a resistor in that’s just as bad as the original 6 Ohm.

I’ll attach a photo of what I purchased and a video of the Hot Box, I just want to make sure I don’t end up with another blown AC regulator board.

Looks about like mine do, I have the older ones that I've added TMCC control to.  They have the stock resistor, I truthfully didn't check to see what value it was.

I measured it and the original is a 6 Ohm. I was planning on putting that 8 Ohm I attached into my early Legacy 10 wheeler but I wanted to make sure it wasn’t going to kill the smoke system like the 6 Ohms do, will I be fine with that specific 8 Ohm?
