I have a Lionel Legacy SD-60 CSX Engine.  I'm having a terrible time with trying to unlocked the locked "direction" on it!!!  I've done everything according to book.  It still only wants to go in one direction.  I run my layout with a Lionel 180 watt power brick hooked into a TPC-300 then into my Legacy 990.

Has anyone else had this problem???  Not very happy with Lionel's Legacy!!!

An additional question would be does the setup work with other Legacy engines?

If the buton on the remote didn't work, this could be the described symptom if you only were able to try it with one engine.  (You can listen when you hit the button, it should make a small "blip" sound when pressed - if it does not, the button on the remote could be bad)

Sorry, Marty.

I wasn't trying to dismiss your questions, but I see my phrasing could be read that way.

I only mentioned the remote button as I had a remote with an intermittently flaky button and when I spoke to Lionel CS a while back, an indication was  made that it might have been somewhat common.  (I'm not trying to say it's an epidemic, just that there may have been a batch at some point with an issue with the button)

Hopefully TT will provide some further details and his problem can be solved.  (engine, remote, or otherwise)

Is it possible that VTDC was inadvertently turned on and needs to be turned off?  I recall a similar post where this happened, the "poster", turned off the VTDC feature and all was well.

Sometimes legacy can be "too much of a good thing", one must be patient and be careful of selections when scrolling through the menu on the remote.

If you are new to legacy, are you operating the direction button correctly? It is a multi-function button. rolling it up is boost, rolling it down is brake.

The button must be pushed in the center  straight into the remote until it clicks to change direction.
