I had my smoke unit service months ago by Lionel and and was working well last time I ran it.  Now I am getting a lot of smoke from around the boiler and out the steam effect holes when running without using the steam chest effect.  I removed the shell and I seem to have a lot of smoke back feeding into the steam chest effect chamber, I am guessing from the main unit. I have had this apart a couple of times and cannot see how this much smoke is getting between the chambers.  I expect a little but this is a lot.

Yes  Nothing has changed.  The smoke is being forced through to the other chamber by the main unit and out the intake of the steam cylinder fan.  I obviously have a poor seal between units.  Anyone know the best place to look?

The rubber gaskets between the fan and heating chamber are in place in well aligned so I don't think it's there.  The only place I can think of is either over the divider or under.

So here is an update.

I re-wicked the unit using the pads from Lionel.  I made sure one was across the opening down below the divider.  I then used the remaining pads to fill both chambers.  The divider was under no pressure to seat.

There is now minimal smoke coming back through the cylinder fan.

This unit even on low though gets hot and produces a lot of smoke.  Been running on low and have to turn it off.  Works much better though as far as "leakage".
