my brother bought a 2026 on ebay it did not run I found that the e uint was bad  I have a rebuilt one coming but what I need help with is the green jewels need replaced someone has repainted them and they are panted black I found new ones to replace them with so my question is how do you change them. I am going to repaint it myself because it is in dyer need if it that I can due

 On cotton or a rag, water then alchohol, paint thinner then lacquer thinner or enamel reducer, soaking in each till you find one that works, then that with chipping and agitating the old paint away with a pin and or exacto, and replacing  them might not even.be needed. I've even cleared up painted headlights. Polishing with a dremel pad helps too

The others have already given good advice, to which I don't have much to add.  But I can tell you that, in my experience, 5-minute epoxy is better for mounting jewels than CA "super glue."  The epoxy will give you a bit of "wiggle time," to get the jewels precisely aligned before it sets.

For the same reason, I have also used Walther's Goo adhesive.

Good luck with the 2026.  I have a postwar 2026 that has been running reliably and smoothly since 1951.  They are underrated locomotives.
