I have this legacy SP heritage diesel and when I put a battery in it and turn the power off, the sounds won't turn off until I disconnect the battery. Yes, I've tried reprogramming the engine and using different batteries. I like having the batteries in my engines. Eventually I'd like to use GRJs battery unit in all my engines but I want to figure out why this model is doing what it is. Anything I can do? I do have extra battery clips I can solder in if need be.

Matt,
I would replace the Battery with BCR and see what happens. You may however have a different problem. Try replacing the Battery with a BCR to start with, if the problem continues Gun, GGG or MartyF may have to take a look at your engine, it could be a board problem also.

I thought you can't use a BCR in lionel engines?
That is modular so you can try replacing the RS Power Supply board and see if that resolves issue. If so you can get a new one. G

I'll give that a shot.

it just requires running a wire to the pick up roller or some where to get power.

I thought I read it here somewhere, guess not. I know about Johns battery unit, I mentioned that in my title post. I'm going to play with the model this week and see if changing the power board like G mentioned if that does anything. I eventually will put Johns battery in all of my engines but I want this issue fixed first.
The BCR won't work in a Lionel locomotive without a separate charging circuit, it's only a capacitor array, and RailSounds doesn't have any charging capability.
