However there are a few distributors who are also wholesalers so they may give themselves a break.
someone posted (can't find thread) that Lionel has moved their distribution center to a Nascar diecast distribution center in North Carolina.
Back when I was having problems with getting a good Ice Cold Express set (first 2 came from my dealer) The 3rd set came from Lionel thru their CS and that one came from Harrisburg, PA which turned out to be great. And I'm in MD.

I posted that Lionel now uses the Nascar Diecast Distribution Center in Concord NC. The items I have seen from them are packed very well in USA made cardboard. This includes even the "Lionel" master carton. They must be arriving in bulk...broken down...packed and then labelled with the usualy white Lionel coded stickers.
For LRRC purchases...this means quick and safe delivery to me..2 hrs south.
A local truck driver delivering some Lionel said he picked up the Made in Michigan boxcars and that they were being shipped to NC. So It appears that is the new distribution center.
maybe that explains why shipping was going so good but stopped on May 31, 2012 with many items from May yet to ship. moving.
I believe all the items scheduled for May shipment have arrived at Charles Ro. It is just that Lionel has not updated their shipping list
And may I surmise that by moving distribution from Michigan to North Carolina, Lionel is now using non-union labor instead of union at this new facility?
After having their stuff made in China, that is.
Eventually no one will be able to buy their cheaper goods if this keeps up, will they?
From my experiences, the Concord distribution centre are doing an excellent job. I make frequent purchases through the Lionel on-line store, and everything is shipped very quickly and beautifully packed to ensure that no damage occurs during transit.
