Installed a new receiver board in the Step Van and powered up at 5.5vAC.  Did not want to go any higher voltage until I can get some help.

Lights blink, press dir button, nothing.  Anyone have instructions?  or know if this van must be programmed or what to get it operational.  Lionel web site is not much help.

These have no "receiver" board from the factory. At least mine didn't, and I didn't see a reference to one in the short time I poked around for it.

They have a rectifier (board?) To change track ac to DC for the motor. They don't even reverse.

So a photo of the board &/or board numbers would likely be useful.  Nobody would know 100% what to do without them

Attached is a photo, best I coud do, of the 691RCDR118 board.  I had Aaron, Lionel Parts Mgr., order this board at York.  Odd thing, I know the motor is DC, BUT - the ground wire from the outside of the AC powered rail goes directly to the motor.  Why?  If I could get the pinouts of the 8-pin connector that would help.  This step van is supposed to be AC powered.

I am thinking of making an AC to DC converter using a bridge rectifier with resistors, maybe a cap and diodes to power this van and say good bye to the Lionel board.

The rectification is slightly different than normal. Instead of flipping the neg. AC wave like with a bridge rectifier, it just skips using it using only a diode to block the neg. wave; so it's "half wave". The now pulsing ac pos. wave and a pulsed DC  are are basically the same thing as far as a motor can tell.

If you do scrap the Tmcc(?*) a bridge rectifier would work. You could also place a diode to the motor to board lead to replace the board. This is half wave also. Which way the diode faces would determine dirrection of the motor.

I think a call to talk to Lionel might be in order.  I couldn't access the site, likely due to the parts sale activity overloading the system. I couldn't find reference to the number elsewhere either; not a single return when I searched.

*With the intro of LC, LC+ "reciever" vs Tmcc or other term also has me wondering what's there.  I was hoping listing the board would draw in GunRunnerJohn or someone else more intimately familiar with it.

The item numbers you give seem to be conventional items, and the board you show is for the TMCC versions such as:  http://www.lionel.com/products...p-van-wtmcc-6-22510/

The picture of the board you posted is indeed a TMCC radio board for small motor devices that JonZ cooked up several years ago.  I got a few running around.

If you received as a new board then it is most likely programmed as TMCC ID1.  What TMCC ID are you accessing, or are you trying to run conventional?
