Earlier I opened up my b unit from this set. I opened it up to check the smoke unit and to make a diagram of the pin outs on the board for a future project involving this engine (to add sound) but when I put everything back together, I got a short. I started by removing the Gnd/3rd connection and it got rid of the short. I tried all three gnd/3rd plugs and all gave a short. Any ideas?

Did you have to pivot the trucks to remove any screws? Maybe one of the wires from the truck got scrapped where it goes in the frame.

Yes I did. I'll check the trucks.
I really can't say from that picture. Is there a strand possibly touching the center wire?
The reason I brought up the trucks is I stripped a wire going thru the frame on a SD-80 I was working on once.

There might be. If there is, what can I do about It?
If the wires are tight in pin I would try putting some electrical tape on it and try it.

I'll try that and let you know.
Fixed it.
Glad to hear you got it. Was the problem with that plug or did you find something else?

Not sure what it is. I think I screwed the board in too tight and it shorted it out. I loosed it and it's find now, I also put a piece of tape on that plug.
