THANKS!!!!
I will be in Charlotte soon and will drop by.
I thought about driving by yesterday, but work took precedence. Wonder if the prices were discounted or MSRP?

Larry,
Are you a member of the LCCA? If not you can join at the door on Friday Nov 7 at Lionel's facility during this private event. The event is open to the public on Saturday and Sunday Nov 8-9.

MSRP. They are not going to attempt to price compete with their dealers
Looks like a terrific store. I'm sure the merchandising makes for a "feel good" environment while browsing. But if they're gonna sell their stuff at MSRP, who do they think is gonna buy -- especially at their outrageous new MSRP levels.
I can understand not wanting to compete with their dealer network, but their new MSRP's are a joke. So why bother? It really begs the question which products they plan to sell there... i.e., close-outs that were offered to dealers/distributors but remained in warehouse inventory? overstock new products not shipped to dealers? Christmas novelty items?
Any locals care to report what they found when they visited the new store???
David
Did they have anything by MTH, or Atlas, or Weaver, or Williams?
Rick
I sincerely doubt the people on this forum are the target consumer. I suspect that they will get the mom and dad traffic, NASCAR traffic, and the one and done buyers. I also suspect that most of the business will be novelty items and sets and not so much high end product.
The Christmas stuff and name branded items would probably sell.
Here is link a video and news article from a Charlotte news station from this morning.
Nice coverage of the store!

Ha ha ha (hoping he's not being serious).

I am, sure they have a full DCS system and several engines in the store
Seriously though, I wonder if the Lionel Tinplate by MTH would be in there.. I kind of doubt it

Al,
Yes, I am a member of the LCCA, have been for the last several years. I live about 30 minutes away from the Speedway complex, and thinking of taking my daughter on Saturday if she wants to go to the event.

You may want to consider Friday evening during the members only night. It may be worth your while to have first pick.

Mmmmm, candy store!
Now I have 4 major O-scale train companies within 6.5 hours driving time:
5 hours to Lionel
4 hours to MTH
6.5 hours to Weaver and Atlas
Do the other 3 have a storefront like Lionel?
I know I'll be down there for the LCCA event November 7-9. Next Tuesday I will be driving back from Atlanta and plan on stopping in to check out the new store.
