I received a Lionmaster Challenger back in December or January. It has run flawlessly since then and I really enjoy it. Recently I finally got cracking at securing the track on the layout, wiring etc., so the locomotive was on a shelf for some weeks. Took it down yesterday to run it ( felt bad cause the new Y6B was getting all the attention) and the rear truck keeps derailing. Mind you it doesn't jump the rail but the wheels on the inside of the curve lift. Picture a car on 2 wheels stunt. It will settle back down on the straights but sometimes goes over. It does lift high enough at times that the sounds go out from being so high above the tender infrared sensor on the drawbar. Tried running forward and reverse and it both directions. Seems to be more of a forward direction issue.
Today I tried again after lubing all the pivot points and sliding parts. No change with problem. Took the shell off to inspect and nothing noticeable found. It seems that the metal post, from the floor of the cab to the bottom of the truck, is binding at times. As if trying to angle and not slide while staying perpendicular to the track. If I use a screwdriver to center it I can go a couple laps before I have the problem again. There is a ton of slop as if it's missing another spring or something as the rear trucks on my other new steamers behave much different when you try to move them around by hand for comparison.
So I'm wondering if anyone has come across this or similar.
