C2353F53-7C8D-46FA-A731-06C60B7FDFB8Hey!

Does anybody know if The Long Island Railroad ever ran passenger cars in all white livery with a blue stripe through the center where the windows are? Just curious as MTH offers a 2 car set, one baggage car & one passenger car in this scheme.

Thanks!

Michael

Light gray, not white. LIRR revised the paint scheme on the passenger cars over the years. Here's an example with the stripe thru the windows:

And prior to retirement the last scheme was the stripe below the windows - this one has the lettering though:

Please note in this above shot the white of the GP38-2 does not match the light gray of this P72. Also observe the car coupled to it at left has a window stripe.

At the end of their service they only had the stripe with the 'M' or 'MTA ball' logo at the end:

And a freshly overhauled parlor in the red stripe scheme:

Thanks so much for the information. Still wondering why MTH would produce pure white cars. Perhaps I should weather mine with something that would come closer to these photos.

Again, Thanks For Sending

Michael
