Hi , I have an elevated layout currently. I would like to add additional lines going down to lower levels.
There is no room on the top level for a connection to the line. So the idea is to cut a hole in the top platform and transfer the coal from a car on the top level to a car on level two. Probably use a coal loader, or hopper car.
The plan is to then send them down two levels ( these levels are going to be going around the perimeter of the 9x11 room) to bottom level to be unloaded.
The coal cars are emptied and then reloaded with other goods to head back up the hill .
Seems like a fun idea. I going to paint the coal " gold" and send it from the mines down to the town in exchange for things need by the mine camp( probably load metal milk cans, steel pieces, etc with the gantry Crane)
It's a 16" total incline/decline. I have over 960 " of track, so grade won't be a problem.
I can do a Wye on the bottom, to turn the engine around, but not the top. And this is my problem. I will have no room to turn the engine around when it goes back down the hill.
Trying to figure out if it is possible to run in reverse back down the incline ?
Or have an engine at both ends?
Hope this makes sense. I appreciate any help.
It's a crazy idea, but I think it will be fun when done. God willing.
