For a later project, I wanted a lower hull for my tug. I created it out of foam using a hot foam cutter to get a rough shape. Next came sanding, painting, a prop made from a tin can and a rudder. Nothing is to scale, as I did it all by eye and looking at photos. I also added the stern and bow bumpers using unraveled string twine.

That is awesome! I may have to do something similar. What are your plans to do with it now that it doesn't sit flat?
Michael,
The lower hull is not attached in any way. The tug and its flat bottom is simply sitting/resting on top of the lower hull.
Nice work Michael! Most of us want to go the other way, making flat bottomed, water line boats and ships out of full hulled models. What is the future project that will require a full hull?
I plan to model above and below the water line. I have seen that done before and have always wanted to try doing that.
You may find a hull that size at the Scale ship yard in Long Beach Ca, a guy by the name of William Upshaw.

Fenders! Bumpers go on cars.

Looks like you're set for a drydock scene.
