My son and I have recently finished another custom painted cylindrical hopper car to go with our Grain Train.  I thought it would be fun to paint a car in Maine Central Harvest Gold with green lettering, since I live in New England and wanted more road names from the area.  I previously painted two CP Rail cylindrical hoppers in blue and green to go with the Lionel Canadian Pacific Grain Train Set, we thought it would be fun to paint a car from a New England Railroad.

I used a combination of Microscale Decal set 48-471 Maine Central Caboose 1955-1975 and RGS Maine Central 50' Boxcar decal set and Minuteman Scale Models Scalecoat Model Paint Number 2168 for Harvest Gold color and an Atlas 3 bay cylindrical hopper.

The next cylindrical hopper will be in Bangor and Aroostook Red.

Please remember I wanted to paint it, I really don't care if Maine Central didn't have these, but my railroad empire has one, please no negative comments about Maine Central didn't have any of these.

Thanks for looking and enjoy your trains and escape from the chaos of the world.

George

Great job on that car !!  I spent part of my life north of Millinocket-almost immediately below where a B&A bridge crossed the east branch of the Penobscot River. Our nearest neighbor ( 8 miles away) was a recently retired  engineer-and was able to identify the motorman of a passing train on that bridge by listening to the loudness of the compression of the cars as the train came "out of the woods", down a hill to cross the river. Although I grew to love the ole BAR, they had mostly mondane consists-like potatoe cars, pulp mill "stuff" and  oil cars for the mills. I always imagined the "down east" MEC branches  to have more interesting loads-like lobster boat hulls from the Portland area, Renys and LL Bean box cars, Wyman blueberry cars etc. So, IMHO, you absolutely have licence to create such Maine Central cars !!
