Did they save a picture of the selfie?
would have been priceless...
Sad technology engrosses people so much they loose situational awareness around them.
Dwarnism has a way of reminding those who forget...
What a moron, wow, talk about stupid.
I continue to remind everyone that, we are surrounded by idiots!
Again, every picture tell's a story
Reminds me of that news story photo with the woman texting, as she walked right up
to and fell into a fountain. (dunno if she recovered any coins) Here the noise of the one he wanted to photo drowned out the noise of the Amtrak from the opposite direction. (and as hard as it is to find a passenger train in America, he found it the wrong way, and it should have been the subject of his selfie..NOT taken standing ON tracks)
we're not the top of the food chain anymore....sad for the man, but what a moron.
Another Darwin Award winner.
Still feel bad for the family, knowing that the public is laughing at their not-too-bright family member.
But most of all I feel for the Amtrak crew. Totally not their fault but they have to live with it anyway.
Certainly a stupid move on the part of the victim, but the author of the article, Miss Taylor Lorenz, is a complete moron. Quote:
"An Oregon man was fatally struck and killed by an Amtrak train as he posted for a selfie on the tracks."
Not only was he fatally struck, he was also killed!
OOOPPS, I didn't see this thread when I started mine.
While the Man may be FROM Oregon, Kalama(and where this accident happened) is in WASHINGTON State. It is Sad that the man Died, it is also SAD that a reporter can't get it right what State something happened in.

Covering forum member Rod Stewart?
"WHEW", what can you say.
Some times you are the windshield, some times you are the bug! SPLAT!

Personally I don't think this is funny and I suspect it wouldn't be if it were a friend or family member.

Yes, we still are. We are also still vulnerable to " natural selection", which is how we got to be at the top of the food chain in the first place.
This is a perfect example.
What's the deal with the retired Amtrak electrics picture?

Acela power cars with the nose cones retracted to expose the coupler.
Why they're using that particular photo? Ignorant use of stock photos, I guess.

And as said before Darwin award...
At least they used something from Amtrak. I once saw a similar story where they used a stock photo of a steam locomotive from the Golden Spike monument in Utah!
No one ever went broke under-estimating the intelligence of the average American. Or something like that!
You just can't fix stupid.
Maybe it should be called a "stupies" in stead of "selfies"
