I have been a member here for quite some time and am finally decided to start working on a layout. I have a question about the Mianne benchwork though. The space I have to work in is 12'1" x 14'3". The 12 foot dimension is from baseboard to baseboard. My understanding of how the Mianne benchwork is constructed is that a 12' wide layout would actually require twelve foot one and three quarter inches of space . Since I only have 12'1" available I am 3/4 of an inch shy. If so that means I would have to order benchwork 11'6" wide. Is this correct?

Everything you state is correct above, except I would call Mianne and ask about getting something custom fit to your space. They will customize some things, I just don't know what all they are able to modify. I had them add a few things to my benchwork, but did not deviate from their standard overall dimensions. It's great stuff and they will work with you as much as they can.
If you did go with the 11'-6" size you could always make your table top larger to fit the space. I sort of wish I had made mine a little larger to have some overhang on the outside edges. My grandson suggested that after the fact so he could run cars and trucks along the edges of the layout.
The answer: a definite maybe. :-)
You can order 11'6" and then extend your plywood out to the desired size. My opinion is that you don't want the layout touching the walls (sound control) and that's what I have done with Mianne.
Or, you can call Tim at Mianne and ask how to proceed. That's what I would do right now if I were you. He is VERY helpful.
Have fun ... if you do buy Mianne, you will not regret it!
Ditto. Great product and Tim is very helpful. Going with Mianne was one of the best decisions I made when building my layout. Good luck.

Thanks for the info
As others have said, give Tim the dimensions who have to work with and he makes custom pieces where necessary.
