Folks,

I recently received an MTH EF-3B Electric as a gift.    Only problem is I have 54" gargraves curves and the details for this loco says it needs 72" curves.

I would make the change over to 72" but after making some templates realized it would eat up a lot of real estate.

I was wondering if anyone had this locomotive and if they knew if it would navigate 63" curves.

Thanks,

Ed

Prior to getting this I was planning on going up to 0-63.   I was also planning on building a non functional catenary system just for the look with my GG-1s.   Never thought I'd  have an operating electric.    Looks like my plan just got changed.

I was only planning on using  a section or 2 of 0-63 in one area where space will be a little tight.   But I might as well do right with the 0-73.

Thanks for responding,

Ed

Ed, I have 2 MTH scale GG1's and VL GG1.  My main lines are 072 and 084.  Switches leading to the yard are 072 but switches in the yard are 060.  All of the GG1's navigate the 060's including a spot where back to back switches form an "S".  While they work, there is a large overhang and they are moving slowly.  If you have the room, go for at least 072 on your main.

Dan,

Thanks for the info.  I can do the 0-72 fine.  There is however 1 area where it would be a lot easier if I could go with a couple of sections of 0-63.  I am not worried about overhang since it would be limited to just the one area.  Headed to the hobby shop tomorrow for the track and will probably pick up a few 0-63 sections to see if it will work for that 1 section.

Thanks for the info.

Ed
