Love it!!! Now you need a whole Minion train.
Don 't forget to upgrade the sound system to include that certain sound all Minions laugh at - the sound of "breaking wind"!
A boxcar with various minion sounds played at random would be cool.

The contrast of blue and yellow is not only striking, it also seems to be the "standard" look of the majority of Minions trumped only by the goggles . Keeping to that look, should yield a more identifiable end result.
Just got back from seeing the movie well worth it plenty of laughs and references to the 1960's missed a few references but my mom had a blast. Will see it again. Definitely going to build a Minion themed handcar
That is funny. Kids will love it.
Kids of ALL AGES will love it. And you gotta be a kid at heart to play with trains.
My wife and I saw the Minions movie over the weekend and we don't have kids. We both liked it.
For 3-rail stuff, I think a Minion locomotive would be great. If I modeled in 3-rail, I'd probably do this:
- RS-3 as the shape looks very Minion-like
- Main part of the shell in yellow
- Blue running boards and trucks
- Single giant mars light in white (for the eye) with a black surround on each end
- Some manner of detailing along the top of the shell, like an exhaust stack, which looks like a banana shape
- Gru figure in the engineer side of the cab and minion figure on the fireman's side
I've made my own decals in black before, on blank paper using a copier from lettering I made myself, and that'd work just fine on a yellow carbody.
Minions seem to love trains!
I swear I thought I saw someone making a short RS-3-ish locomotive with one power truck. I tried looking online but couldn't find anything like that.
But a Minion loco really should be one of those shorty locos if possible...
I stumbled on this, thought it might be good for ideas.
A few are repeated and useless sure but I know lots more now.

Just FYI, in addition to what you can find at your local big box retailer or online, some McDonalds still offer Happy Meals featuring an assortment of Minions and there are offered as premiums in marked boxes of certain General Mills cereals, like Lucky Charms. We've picked up seven so far...
RichO,
I will tell you this, when either Lionel comes out with a Legacy version or MTH comes out with a P3 version, they will make a fortune, this Minions stuff is even hotter than Harry Potter. Can you see a Minion Christmas Train in either Legacy or P3, parents would be getting out their check books, to pre-order for their kids.

I peeked at a cell phone over a shoulder, to see what was so frustrating yet interesting to the 19yr old behind me. The phones owners face was intense with concern....
