My wife and I saw the Minions movie over the weekend and we don't have kids. We both liked it.

For 3-rail stuff, I think a Minion locomotive would be great. If I modeled in 3-rail, I'd probably do this:

  • RS-3 as the shape looks very Minion-like
  • Main part of the shell in yellow
  • Blue running boards and trucks
  • Single giant mars light in white (for the eye) with a black surround on each end
  • Some manner of detailing along the top of the shell, like an exhaust stack, which looks like a banana shape
  • Gru figure in the engineer side of the cab and minion figure on the fireman's side

I've made my own decals in black before, on blank paper using a copier from lettering I made myself, and that'd work just fine on a yellow carbody.

RichO,

I will tell you this, when either Lionel comes out with a Legacy version or MTH comes out with a P3 version, they will make a fortune, this Minions stuff is even hotter than Harry Potter.  Can you see a Minion Christmas Train in either Legacy or P3, parents would be getting out their check books, to pre-order for their kids.

I peeked at a cell phone over a shoulder, to see what was so frustrating yet interesting to the 19yr old behind me. The phones owners face was intense with concern....

Oh... minions.

A game online. I guess its fun???

Speaking of fun! Yes this is a "fun" car.

I bet licensing is weeping you beat them to it.

Basic, "pops", and is very "Minion-y".

 Nice job!
