I have a bunch of fun projects I want to do, but I told myself I had to get this one done first.  I have a box of carefully wrapped die-cast cars and trucks stored in the closet, and they should be on display.  I had no suitable space for diecast-car shelves in the trainroom so I recessed these new shelves in the walls of the stairs leading up to it.  I think they look good there.

I started the project early yesterday and just completed it now.  Saturday morning, after the paint dries two days, I will put those cars on these new shelves.  There is a lot of stair space for more shelves over time, too, as inevitably, I add more diecast cars, trucks, and tractors.  The only thing I will do different next time is to paint the wood before I start building the shelves.

Display shelving is always handy, and has a way of getting filled up !

I made five eight-foot shelves with 2x6's on adjustable shelf supports and filled them up right away, so nearly all of my operable O-gauge equipment is either on tracks ready to roll, or on visible display. I find it especially convenient to have shelves with flangeways cut out (on a radial arm saw) so train items can easily be positioned on the shelves without additional track.

And now the question is: where can I fit in MORE shelves ?!
