MOW equipment spotted in Memphis today

Well all this equipment looks like they are replacing missing or damaged ties on that industrial spur.

these two are moving saw's and tie replacers. they will cut the ties inbetween the rails, Pull out the cut sections and then insert the new tie in its place.

This machine here is a ballast grader/ brush to push the ballast back in between the ties and brush any excess ballast off

This is a Ballast tamper. after the ties are inserted under the rail, the arms will vibrate the ballast around the new ties.

looking at PRR's photos the second item is a "Regulator" . Does as he says pushes the stone around shaping the stone. the "Broom" on the other end clean the track at the end of the job.

The Forth photo is the "Tie Inserter". 

Behind the insert and before the tamper is a Spiker. I would have to guess the first machine is a spike puller.

More likely on the main line. The equipment is just using that industrial siding to get in the clear.

I've seen similar gangs of MOW equipment on the LIRR every summer. Typically this group of machines does general track and tie maintenance and repair.  Fun to watch so if you have time definitely do.
