I recently purchased a used MTH Alco S2 locomotive with Proto sound 3. When I first ran it conventionally it gets start up sounds the front headlight comes on and then it just starts running in reverse never staying in neutral and it does not respond to the directional control button inputs. Tried a factory reset using the Z4000 transformer as per the engine manual with no success.
A fellow club member who is great with MTH DCS took it to his layout and when he used DCS everything works as expected with the locomotive. But when he disconnected the DCS and tried running conventionally it continues to run in reverse on start-up and does not respond to the direction button.
Anyone have any thoughts as to what to try?
