I am looking for an articulated sound set with the same whistle as the following N&W J sound set (this is the non quilable sound set):

Unfortunately, unless someone has that sound set installed on a loco, they can't tell what it sounds like. Also, is it RK or Premier?
Are you looking for a sound set for a Mallet or for a simple articulated RK? If the latter, try R031PFBIGBOY_UP030221eFIN_3V.MTH
I think that's what I installed on my 1995 RK CHallenger when I upgraded it to PS2. Has a good whistle. Not like the horrible sounbd of an N&W A class on the video thereof.
I was hoping for something different than the big boy sound set.
Here is the video of the N&W J sound set in my big boy. In the video it sounds like one of the earlier Yellowstone releases, but it is not the same whistle.

If you want authentic loco sounds, you have to say if you seek a simple or compound (Mallet) articulated.
It's not that hard to simply download a few candidates and load them into a test engine and see what they sound like. I have just plugged a board into my testset and downloaded a number of sound sets to get one that I like the sound of.

I don't have a compound. In the BigBoy set I loaded into the Challenger because there was no other at the time, you can hear the 2 sets of drivers go in & out of sync., 8 chuffs per rev.

Am I getting this straight? You want a N&W sound set to load into your Big Boy? Well, there are sounds set for the N&W A and Y6bs.

Yes, that is what I am looking for.
If you have not heard this specific sound set (I do not believe this is a standard issued sound set for the J), you are missing out.
This is the closest MTH whistle I have heard in comparison to the new Vision Line Big boy due out later this year.
