I also posted in the 3rs 027 forum with a member reccomending I post here as well.
I recently purchased a used MTH Premier 4-6-2 K4 PRR (20-3126-1) from afellow board member.
I'm not faulting him a bit, my question is on the sound quality. When the loco powers up, the dynamo and backround
engine sounds drown out the steam chuff. The PSA seems to be ok, also when voltage is increased the chuff gets very garbled almost static like. I have replaced the batteries with new and fully charged also installed new speaker from Madisound thinking that may be the problem,it is a 4 ohm 4 watt. Is this the proper course of action or should it go to an MTH dealer instead?
running in conventional mode with a lionel ZW postwar series 135 watt bricks
performed a reset and the sound is still the same. It cant even be heard over the loco and cars when it is running.
The sound on my Lionel B&A Hudson from the mid 90's is better in volume and quality. Am I just expecting too much, or is this normal for a 10 year old MTH Premier loco?
here is a link to the speaker
