I've had plenty of derailments over the years...usually operator error, with no damage, but had one last night, relatively slow speed, with my Legacy Lackawanna S-3 (84058) and after shutting down and trying to restart the Z-4000 registers a short. It is in the tender, and after removing 8 screws I still couldn't remove the tender shell from its chassis, so I figure it'll have to be serviced, and fortunately its under warranty. I could smell something funky coming from under the tender, ostensibly through the speaker holes, some kind of burn smell.

Does anyone know what could be wrong? And, if its an easy fix, how to remove tender shell without breaking something?

If there's no suggestions, I call Charles Ro next week to see what they say and if they can fix or if I have to send to Lionel service.
