I just snagged the MTH Santa Fe E8 ABA w/PS3 at a super price.  I already own the NYC (green) and Pennsylvania (tuscan) MTH E8's, and they are super ABA locomotive sets.

Whether it was prototypical or not, I'm thinking of using these Santa Fe E8 ABA's to lead the way hauling my upcoming GGD El Capitan Hi-level cars due out later this Spring.

I was originally thinking of heading up this GGD train with two of Lionel's newly catalog'd ES44's, 'cause I'm thinking two power units will be needed to haul all that aluminum.     But at a street price of $525/each (up from last year's $399/each) for Lionel's new ES44's, that's a hefty $1K+.  Compared to the MTH ABA option (with two powered A-units and a dummy B-unit making an impressive 53" locomotive set for a passenger train), that's excellent price/performance for under $600 including shipping.  And this is exactly the type of scenario I was recommending folks keep an eye out for when we saw the latest price increases in Lionel's latest 2015 Signature Edition catalog.  As long as you're open to alternative options in the marketplace, you have lots of leverage when shopping for maximum price/performance and still walk away with terrific product solutions for your railroad.

Thanks Charlie, Gromet, and company!!!

I was looking at the NYC E-8 set at Nassau, and it's $900.00.

Did you enter bunny with quotes? did you enter:

bunny

or

"bunny"

there should not be quotes... just bunny.

when you entered the code in the REDEEM COUPON CODE box and hit enter, did it update your totals showing free shipping? If not, when you got to the payment gateway for credit cards or PayPal it once again shows you the total it is going to charge, did you continue even though this total was wrong?

Our system is working perfectly as a LOT of orders are coming through with the coupon code applied.

I'm sure Chris or Charlie can refund the shipping since the order has already processed...

I'm just the IT Guy! LOL

Breezy,

Yes... But that's an ABBA set with the extra B-unit... so that's a GREAT deal on an exquisite NYC paint scheme at $810 shipped.  Can't imagine that staying available much longer at that price point.

The Santa Fe was just the ABA set and came in at just under $600 shipped.  And I already got the UPS shipping email with an ETA of tomorrow.  Terrific service!!!

That is a pretty ballsy question. Nassau is a great store with great prices already. They didn't have to do this sale and it just "icing on the cake" for their already great prices. To ask them to go further is just rude and inappropriate IMO.

There are some great deals on new MTH diesels through forum sponsors on the E8, E6 n for nice discounts... I am awaiting the Berks and the PRR M1's to get a better price....ON the other hand, there is an MTH war bonds SET for a bit over $1000...free ship...if I did not have the S1 loco in PS2, I'd get the set and sell off the cars....Great time we're in now...

Who has the MTH  ABA E6 in SP daylight for sub $600, w free ship?

I dont see those on their website!?!

1.  Does anyone really expect that they will reply "don't order now because we'll be lowering our price next week"?

2.  Anytime you buy a train item, there's a chance that you'll see it for less next week. There's also a chance you'll never see it again, or when you do, it will cost more.  If you think it's worth the price, buy it.

3.  Maybe the purpose of the sale is to clear the inventory so that they won't have to mark it down further.

Personally, I would only ask such a question if I was a regular customer and did a lot of business with that store.  Otherwise, I wouldn't be surprised if their reply was less than friendly.

Just wanted to say a big Thanks to Nassau Hobby Center.  I tried to place an order this evening and had an issue with completing it.  I sent an email to them figuring I would hear back tomorrow maybe. Instead I received a reply less than 1 hour later and on a Friday night.  Not only do they have fantastic prices but they have great service as well.  They will continue to see business from me.
