Had a chance today to run my new centipedes, they are truly grand. Only problem I have is the lead engine rear smoke unit does not work. I get 4 blinks in the cab lighting indicating smoke unit fan not working. Did the reset a few times as stated in manual. Still the same. Any suggestions on a fix before I send back to Lionel?

Thanks

Hi.  I believe that 4 blinks indicates a problem with the heating element for the rear smoke unit, not the fan motor. Besides an actual failure of the element, this can sometimes be caused by a loose connection between the cable and the smoke unit. It can also occur rarely if smoke fluid leaks onto the top of the unit. Have you tried turning off the power to that smoke unit via the switch on the locomotive, running the locomotive for a while so that it is warmed up to operating temperatures, and then turning the switch back on? This has been known to work in some cases.
