The new overhead track layout had it's maiden run today.  My 783 on the track.  Measured the room, a lot of planning witch SCARM,  Used Lionel and Menards track.   O72 switch and curves.   Then the work of putting it up and now we are at stage 1.   A little time to relax and then on to back ground and decorations.   Overall 77 feet/23.5M of track.   Was able to plan each board needed, cut it  and it all worked!   Yeehaa.   Found that paint dries really fast when painting boards outside in 100+ degrees.  Been hot in Texas the last few weeks.

I was going to upgrade the tender sounds from mighty sound of steam, but I found the grandkids love it better than the newer ones.  So it stays as it is.

The last step is to add the guard rail wires.   To prevent any falling engines from a catastrophic de-rail.   It may never be needed but we know what happens if it isn't there.

Go man go………..what a great thing to behold!

I agree with what Bob wrote about the high ceiling!!  It’s great!

Before our daughters married and moved out, my wife suggested a 12x12 space in the back of the basement family room along 3 walls and a bulkhead for the I-beam and return vents.  The ceiling is only 7’ 6” high, so to put the shelves above the doors, I had limited headroom for the trans an me.  It was a literal pain in the neck.  Once it was basically in, I had little interest in making additions or improvements.
