South Pinnacle Peak has proven to be an extremely popular attraction with nature lovers since the park opened recently.

Last week, a small group approached the planning board and asked about renting the remote peak area for a small encampment.

When the board heard that they were staunch believers in the "au naturel", the slightly naive board members enthusiastically welcomed what they thought were a nature-loving environmental group.

Soon a rickety fence was constructed, and the board wished they had studied French a little more diligently in high school.

The fact that the fire tower was within the camp boundaries didn't faze the campers a bit, but has helped ranger recruitment numbers immensely.

Also, it's amazing how many people of varying degrees of fitness now complete their hike to the summit, rather than wimping out on the way as has usually been the case. Big Grin

They're "motivated"???

I don't know how they get up there either but if they sing as they march the two most popular songs are "Just a swingin" or a song that we all know by Ray Stevens

You guys have to hear this one it's funny.
My brother retired from the music industry at 54 and doesn't have to work for a living. He does have a close friend near by that still has a band and asks Doug to fill in when he has a member sick.John called Doug and told him his lead Guitar player is out sick and ask him to fill in for the weekend.
He told my brother that since he was so gracious this being the last minute, he'd Pick him up and that all the food and lodging would be supplied by the clients.

Doug said they pulled up and his heart was in his throat, it was you guessed it a Nudist Colony . They told him you can remove your clothes.Doug said there was no way he was going to spend the weekend walking around with a Fender Srat case in front of him and an Ibanez fretless Bass case behind him.He said if that wasn't bad enough there several 60,70 and 80 year old couples there.

Now when John calls him.Doug asks "where is it and what are the driving directions".
