NJ Transit ALP-45DP Undergoing Tests

Folks living along NJ Transit rights of way should be keeping their eyes open for the dual mode 4500 which is currently being tested. Here are images of it on the Atlantic City and North Jersey Coast Lines:

Initially, the locomotive was being operated strictly on its diesel engine but is now being run in electric mode as well.

The cab heat and air conditioning is awesome and the engineer's seat is not to shabby either.

Everything looks better when it goes fast.

The test train was on the NJCL yesterday. Station stops were simulated between Woodbridge and Bay Head. The 4500 was run in electric mode north (railroad direction east) of Long Branch.

Compared to GG1's i did not get used to the look of the toasters for a while and these new one's certainly look better than the toasters even though they are tough little bugger's, Gman.
