No Active DCS Engine?

Mike, is it the only DCS engine you own.  I'm thinking try another, but thought you would have thought of that. 

Hi Mark, it is the only PS3 engine I have, the PS2 engine starts right up. the remote sees it everytime!

Well this isn't good, now it wont start up in dcc.

I am making an assumption this is a premier engine.  Since you stated it starts up in DCC, look for the DCS/DCC switch and make sure its in the DCS position.

THe switches are in DCS and 3rail. Now it wont even start up

Yes Mike, I am hoping they do too!  The engine may need a factory reset, but I don’t want to tell you to do it without their input.  It fixed one of my engines.

Mike,

Delete the engine from the remote and re-add it. As soon as it finishes adding, press Startup. If it starts up, do not shut it down! Just turn off track power immediately and count how many seconds sounds persist. If they don't persist for 6-7 seconds, the battery in the engine needs to be charged or replaced.

Once the battery situation is resolved, delete the engine and re-add it.

Need to try it conventionally and see if it starts up and runs that way.  You said it worked in DCC, does that mean you have DCC?  If not, the switch stays in DCS position for conventional or DCS operation.  Make sure 3R switch is in the 3R position.  The other thing I see with some of the PS-3 is poor ground pickup at the trucks.  G

Hi Barry, When I do a read it doesn't find the engine, and I don't know how to add an engine yet, I am slowly working threw your book.

GGG, I will go out and give that a try, should it start up in conventional with sound?  If it doesn't, any other ideas?

The READ command has nothing to do with adding and running engines.

If you don't first add the engine, you cannot start it up and run it.

Thanks Barry, it was there and I deleted it with the idea of adding it back, but I got lost!

Hi Barry, I fallowed the steps in your book and what you told me to do here. The engine added on the test track, started up and the sound lasted 11 seconds after the power was cut off. Now it works fine! I have no idea what I did wrong the first time!

Congratulations, Mike!!!  I'm glad you got it going.  Yes, people complain about DCS being temperamental.  Maybe so, but usually it is an easy fix as in this case.

You Know Mark, I am just getting into the DCS system and I like it so far! I think I am really going to enjoy it and with all the great group of people here I know I will be able to get it down one day!
