I have an MTH Premier NYO&W Camelback cab number 244. I run the locomotive under DCS. I don't know the MTH model number. The locomotive not been used for about 6 months. When I put in on the track it ran for a short time and then quit. Now the locomotive has no steam sounds. The rear coupler fires and the headlight turns on when the "startup" button is pressed. The "shutdown" command turns the headlight off. I tried the locomotive on a conventional track and there were no sounds. Is there anything I can check or does the locomotive need service?

Thanks,

Rick

I've experienced an engine  losing sounds after starting up due to a weak battery. Whether or not this a battery issue I have no idea but.... it's an easy thing to try.

Sound is back. Thanks to everyone who responded. This is what I did:

1. Charge battery for about 3 hours using MTH charger.

2. Tried a conventional reset on a non-DCS track -- no good.

3. Did a factory reset from the DCS remote on a DCS track and sound was restored. Added engine back to remote, turned off smoke and played with trains.

Thanks,

Rick
