I just moved out of Vegas. As far as I know, there wasn't diddly squat for trains going on out there. You could try contacting either of the Lionel retailers out there to see if they know of any. Both are run by decent people.

The Silver State Division meets out at the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Boulder City. Inside a 1911 era passenger car, they operate a phenomenal O gauge layout. Layouts of all scales are often set up in the maintenance barn for the public to see during special events. Contact Bill and Velaine Arndt 702-558-2954. Often you will find them out there Saturday before noon working inside the club car. The museum runs a seven mile excursion train on the form U.P. Boulder Branch. Lots of equipment to see also. Hope this is of help to you.

Charlie,

That's basically it! I even tried starting a hi-rail club a few years back but received no interest at all. There are a lot of us 3-railers here, but I guess most of them prefer to keep to themselves.

There is a new live steam group here, of which I am a member. We just finished installing a large loop of 7.5" gauge track in Boulder City just south of the Nevada State Railroad Museum site and work continues on additional trackage, steaming bays, turntable, etc. The group is part of the "Friends of the Nevada Southern Railway," a volunteer museum support group.
