I have a part number GG-5120001   for the left handle ,but the MTH sight says you have to call them first, Do I have to be an asc tech just to buy a plastic left handle/?.

also one of my transformers the red  light comes on immediately on power up with throttle off, but the display does no light at all ,can there be 2 issues with the 40-4000 transformer. any ideas GGG or Marty

Marty did you ever get the control board you were waiting for?

Alan, I just checked the tech site and your handle and it is available.  It is also very inexpensive.  I am still holding my breath for my part.  Yours is available.  You may get lucky on no display.  I have seen the plugs that attaches to the top half of the transformer case need to be re seated.  MTH is  in a position of not  having people open the transformers up.  You are capable of doing it.  Call and ask for Jeff in service.  Make the call in the afternoon.

Hi Alan,

You could have to separate problems with the Z-4000.  The red light coming on and staying on could be a trim pot out of adjustment on one of the handles.  If the trim pot is off a tooth on the gear it may not be going all the way to 0 volts when the handle is all the way down.  That wouldn't account for lack of lights on the digital display, but it would explain the red light coming on and staying on at power-up.

Thanks Marty I had reseated the transformer control board in the past and if the z40 locked up I was able to reseat the control board and then it would work for a while until it locked up again. it' I'm thinking it could be either board as it has  been sitting for a while and  a couple of weeks ago I tried it again and it worked ok for over a week, since. now there is no display and red light comes on immediately that's what's making me think both boards could have issues, and it's not worth putting 2  boards, mite as well buy a new transformer with a guarantee. what do you think?

Thanks for any input you can supply

Alan
