Question. I am laying down a 4 track passenger yard and would like to keep the tracks spacing as close together as possible.

I run 21.5 inch cars (Atlas being the longest car), and a Lionel PRR S-1 6-4-4-6 which leans out pretty far over any radius.

As I turn a 90 degree corner on the layout the sharpest radius will be an 072 inch. What should be the corresponding 3 track radii and track spacing on the outside of this radius so I do not have a touch condition?

Thanks,

Hey thanks Chris, I will start with 5.5 between the smaller radii, I take it the next radius say 090 can be lest than 5.5? And the next one after that?

Once you get wider than 081, you should be OK with a 4.5" center to center spacing, as the overhang gets reduced.

You can always layout the track on a temporary setting with whatever radii you want and place the suspect equipment on the track to see how tight things really are. It does not have to be fancy; rather just enough to answer the "Go/No Go" question.
