Hello all!
It's been about 7 years since I had a layout in my basement. I had 2 previous layouts,1 with a lot of switches and another that was mostly a loop runner. I Have built the benchwork for a new layout. Pretty simple really. It will measure 20' 2" Long and 76" wide. One thing of Note..I have a Support column located 11' 2" from the left and 17 1/2" from the front,so that will have to be worked around. That measurement is to the center of the 4" column. It's not up against the wall,so I can walk around the entire thing. I do not have Scram(mac user) and the Mac layout software I found is OK,but I cannot really work it well.
I know some of you really like to play around with layout design. I have a few parameters and must haves. The outside loop will be 072, with the 2 inner pieces of the half circle 064,so I have ample room for the entire turn. I need to be able to switch directions, and have a small town area, and some stubs for structures.I have some switches left from previous layouts(sold off many to finance my MG ) which I want to include if possible. Also I will provide a list of structures I have,to see what you all think I can/should fit in,and where. Track is Gargraves, Switches are Ross, and curves are Ross. I will buy any track/curves/switches I need.
Switches #175 double crossover -Must Have
RH 072 (2) LH 072, LH 031, LH 072/054 Curved switch, 11degree wye
I also have 2 trestles, one 37" long the other 24" I can leave a gap in the plywood and build up a gorge underneath to meet the bridge if needed.
I have some 0120 curves,a few 088 and 080. Plenty of 054 and 042. Do not have any 063 but will buy if needed.
