The Poconos in Pennsylvania consist of 4 counties. In Wayne county, the former Erie criss-crosses the Delaware. If you are in the Honesdale, Hawley area, the tracks of the Stourbridge Line RR are now out of service.
Pike County has no rail service. The Stourbridge Line sometimes ran to Lackawaxen.
Monroe County has the Delaware-Lackawanna RR Pocono line, originally DL&W. Freights run the entire line on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Usually midday, a grain train goes from Scranton to Pocono Summit. While it runs frequently in the midday, it does not run everyday.
Carbon County has Norfolk Southern freights that go through Palmerton, Lehighton, Jim Thorpe and Weatherly to reach Hazelton (in Luzerne County) This is mainly former Lehigh Valley trackage based out of Allentown. Reading & Northern runs some freight through Jim Thorpe, connecting with NS at Lehighton on former Jersey Central tracks. They also head west through Nesquehoning to the Port Clinton yard (Schuylkill County) Their Lehigh Valley line goes north of Jim Thorpe through White Haven to reach their yard in Pittston. I have no idea of the schedules.
This is a part of Pennsylvania with many amazing photographic locations for trains. There just aren't that many trains.
