Like other Polar Express fans, I’ve tried to recreate the North Pole “First Gift of Christmas” scene. The hardest part is trying to match the huge crowd of elves that surround Santa’s sleigh. Lionel makes the other figures but not standing elves. They do make swinging elves for the hand-car, but acquiring a large quantity would be prohibitive, and they don’t really work for the scene. If Lionel made a 4 pack of standing/cheering elves, I’d probably by 25 packs.

Seems like a “No-brainer” to me, so at York I asked a Lionel rep if they would ever produce PE elves. To my delight he said “We do. They’re in the back of the catalogue.”

He sent me to the catalogue table. Couldn’t find them in any of the catalogues. The catalogue rep said that she believed she saw them in the most recent draft of the next Christmas catalogue that would go to the Printers in a few days.

If that turns out to be correct, then I have to give Lionel the highest of marks for listening to their customers. The recataloguing of the PE Observation car and the introduction of the PE Streamliner and PE Gold Edition are a “Bullseye” in my opinion. I hope they keep at it and don’t stop until we see a Tinplate PE.

Did anyone else hear any details about the Christmas catalogue?

You might want to ask him where he got his as they will undoubtedly be cheaper than what Lionel releases.  Especially if you want a large quantity.

Thanks for the lead. Those look like re-painted HO or N gauge figures. That's a great solution but I don't really have the steady hand needed to do that. I'll keep looking down that avenue though, You're right! It would save Big Bucks.
