Hey guys, I want to use 2 of my 4 048 Lionel switches with a new 072 Wye switch to build a Wye to turn trains. I could use three 036 switches, but I prefer to use larger radius curves. Will this cause issues mixing the curve radius? This Wye will be on a peninsula. I appreciate input. Thanks.

This is probably possible, but may require custom cutting some track sections. Have to fiddle with it. Try laying it out on the floor or design in a track planning program like SCARM, it will tell you if the geometry is ok and give dimensions for cut pieces. It will only run O48 (or less) rated equipment.
Laying it out on the floor would be ideal, however, I have not bought the 072 Wye. I would prefer to know ahead of time if it is plausible before spending the money. I could also just use three of my four 048 switches and be relatively certain of no issues. I would rather avoid cutting the track.

Thanks Charlie. I will take a look at them.

Thanks Tracker John. That is precisely what I am looking for. Simple, elegant and efficient. Thanks so much.
I have thought about doing what you are proposing to turn trains……just the locomotive? Never laid it out, but thought it could work
Hello Catdaddy. I plan to turn entire trains, but all of my equipment is of the short variety. Most trains are 6 feet long or less. I am in the process of tearing down my layout and building a new layout so it will be much better than my old layout. The new layout eliminates the mistakes made with the old layout.
@cpowell posted:I found this somewhere. Shows different fastrack wye setups.

Was it from the 2014-2015 Track and Power Catalog?:
There's a lot of good stuff in this catalog, and the newer edition, 2016 and 2017, as well.
It's been 5 years. Maybe Lionel should come out with a new one?
