Somebody requested that I post pictures of my 1615 0-4-0 Switcher that I geared 50 under in the late 60s because they were geared too high and couldnt pull anything,it worked out great it could creep with 10 post war cars.We didnt have the wide range of choices that we have today.Hopefully you can see the added gearing.

Thank you very much for sharing these!  Photo #2 shows the main idea--an additional cluster gear adding at least one more stage of reduction.  I'm guessing that the gears added are Lionel parts?  Is there any chance you could share a parts list, or maybe a hand sketch showing what goes where?

 

Also... It looks like maybe spacer washers were added.  If not, how did you get the outside of the cluster gear to "go behind" the driving wheel and idler gear, so that the teeth don't interfere?

 

One more question... if you're running this loco at say, half throttle, and power is suddenly cut, does it still coast any?  Or does it lock up??
