Thanx Joe. I'm going to try the procedure from the trainz site tomorrow.  I'll let you know if it works.

I tried the #18 reset but unfortunately it didn't work. I'm sure I'll get it working eventually. Thanx again. 

your probably not using a z4000 mth transformer they were designed for the proto 1 engines and work the best, other transformer may not work. also you must startup engine under 10 volts or it will not come out of reset!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and your battery must be good and a full charge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

when you first power it up 10 volts or less you should hear ding ding twice if you do let the cycle complete and should run you may not have the voltage low enough below and it will not leave reset state!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was using the mth Z1000 transformer and I followed the instructions to the letter. I'm going to see if I can find someone with a Z4000 and try  it again.

What sounds does the engine make when you apply power.  Do you have a new and fully charged battery installed?  Why do you need to do the reset?  Steam or diesel?  G
