I have a PS2 Engine, that is giving me a problem.

When I add the Engine  to my layout, I can run it forward and backwards,  I have lights an sound.

I put in a new battery,  I reset to Factory and Feature reset, it was deleted and entered again.

But when the track power is removed from the engine,  and then restarted it doesn't hold ID#.

Does this mean that the memory board in the engine is not holding the information.

Any other information would be helpful.

Steve,

This is typical of a weak or dead battery, however, it could also be due to disconnected wires between the battery and the engine's PS2 board, or some other problem with the PS2 board.

When you get it started up making sounds and immediately turn off track power, how long do sounds persist? If less than 5-6 seconds, the battery is most likely not fully charged.

This and a whole lot more is all in MTH’s “The DCS Companion 3rd Edition", available for purchase  from many fine OGR advertisers and forum sponsors, or as an eBook or a printed book at MTH's web store!

SteveL,

I recommend you install a BCR and eliminate the battery all together, the BCR will eliminate your battery problem for good if that is the real problem.  They are a little more expensive to start out with, but nicer in long run.  Remember if you use BCR that it takes a few sec's to reach full charge when you power up you engine on the tracks.
