I just received my first PS3 engine, which is my first new engine in 7 years.  After about an hour, I successfully added the engine to the remote.  Since adding the engine, I am experiencing all types of random problems.  As yet, I haven't had the time to diagnose or correct any of the problems.

My question is this:  I haven't upgraded the TIU or remote in several years, and I am currently using Version 4.01.  Do I need to upgrade to properly operate the PS3 engine?

I have Barry's book, and it is the 2012 version.  Is this the latest version?  The version that I have doesn't seem to address some of the problems that I am experiencing.

Kirk,

I haven't upgraded the TIU or remote in several years, and I am currently using Version 4.01.

There was a bug in 4.0x versions of DCS prior to DCS 4.10 that would, sometimes, make it very difficult to add an engine.

The workaround is to tether the remote to the TIU's Remote Input port using a 4-conductor telephone handset cable (the curly one tha goes between the phone base and its handset).

it is the 2012 version.  Is this the latest version?

The book was last updated n September 2012. That would be the latest version of the 2nd edition.
