I am looking to purchase one of these berkshires to repaint as a Pere Marquette 1225. I do not own any Lioncheif locomotives.
How well do they run? Can any kind of cruise be added? How do they sound? Can I get 6 wheel truck tender wheels for this loco as it looks funny with the 4 wheel ones.
I think this would be a great locomotive for the kids when I do not want them playing with my legacy stuff!

Lion Chief plus Berkshire? .. Run great (so I see on youtube), comes with speed control, sounds pretty good, comes with 6 wheel tender. #1223 too!
I have that engine and it runs and sounds great. I've only had one issue and that was the chuffing stopped because there wasn't lube at the cam/chuff push rod area, easy fix and now no issues.

Maybe I should wait and get a Mikado or a Pacific instead and paint that as a Pere Marquette. I can wait until the Berks are released and get the Pere Marquette one then.
