I have an old Lionel NW-2 that I upgraded to tmcc with ERR ac commander. Engine started acting strange, it would run a little way and stop sometimes it would start by itself and go aways and stop again. other times I would have to press 0 on remote. I tested it on the work bench and it ran fine. Back on layout same problem. Tried reprogramming several times to no avail. After removing cab I found that if i touched the r2lc board with my finger while it was stopped it would start running again.  I tried removing and reinstalling board still no luck, I even tried a new antenna wire attached to the screw conector on the ac commander board. I finally swapped the the r2lc board with   one from an other engine works great again.  I thought I would try the the board in the donor engine and was surprised to see that it worked fine in it. Tried it back in nw-2 same problem again !  the donor engine was a gp9 with a pullmor  motor and ERR ac commander. only difference is the gp9 board is marked R4LC-08. Any ideas what might be going on?

I hate to say it, but sometimes that seems to be quirks with TMCC based systems.  I do not know if as they age component tolerances shift.  Or just some differences in components engine to engine.  R2LC C08 is a good stable board.  What board was in the NW-2 originally, was it a ERR R4LC C08?  G

They are not original, I dug through a box full of old springs my father had amassed over his lifetime, found two that I was able to make work.  The hard part was finding  a spring wound clockwise and one wound counter clockwise.  I had to cut and bend the ends some,  but they work great. I would have to take the pickup collector apart to get a good picture, springs aren't that visible from bottom. My father allways held on to things that might come in useful someday, I'am glad he did in this case.
