I recently bought a Lionel postwar 6465 Gulf tank car. A piece had broken off the truck and the whole truck needs replaced. My first thought was to get one from eBay, but I've seen several threads that show that people have strong preferences for truck replacements. I like this car and don't mind spending a little more to fix it. Can someone point me to a good replacement please?
Thanks Mr. ubertationmeister. Actually the car was Sunoco, not Gulf (looked at wrong one), but it was a 6465 car. For that car the plastic tank part is simply screwed into a flat base where the trucks are attached (underneath). It was easy to get to the clips.
Actually, I looked at the broken truck and took a different route. I used some superglue to glue the broken piece back. It seems to have worked fine.
