I can set a recording or trip and it is accurate for afew trips and then things start to change or get left out. Is this normal.

Are all the trains being started at the same location as when they were originally recorded?
yes they are.
Please define "recording or trip".
When you go into the advanced menu and select to record as session and you press record and then do your thing with the engine and bring it back to where you started and then press stop. Latter you can go back and press the play button and it will replay what you just did automatically.

Please describe exactly what you do and exactly what happens, step-by-step.
Every time you play a recording the engine will go further forward than the place where you stopped it when making the recording. eventually it stops way far away from the depot even though I start it at exactly the same place where I stopped it when making the recording.
As has ben stated many times, the record/playback feature has some "flexibility" in it.
